CDMA2000 is a family of third-generation mobile telecommunications standards based on the earlier cdmaOne (IS-95) standard, which is used to send voice and data on mobile networks. The CDMA standards provide an alternative technology and architecture approach to GSM/UMTS standards. CDMA2000 supports data speeds of up to 144Kbps making it suitable for basic data services such as email, instant messaging and mobile portals. EV-DO (Evolution-Data Optimized) on the other hand is a standard for the wireless transmission of data, typically used to provide broadband internet access on mobile networks. EV-DO is an evolution of the CDMA2000 standard, designed to support high data rates and be deployed alongside a mobile operators voice services.
CDMA200 and EVDo are backward compatible with earlier cdmaOne networks and provide mobile operators who have implemented their network based on this standards family with the ability to provide faster data speeds and support a wide range of data services. The faster speeds, reduced latency and higher capacity provided by EV-DO allows operators to offer mobile broadband services using datacards and modems supporting real-time services such as Video Streaming and VoIP as well as driving the adoption of data-intensive smartphone devices. EV-DO uses an end-to-end IP-based network architecture so it can support any application, which can operate on such a network. The IP based architecture is cost effective for operators as it contains fewer nodes and provides a migration path towards all IP-based 4G LTE architectures.
The Now Factory's Sourceworks probing technology can be deployed on the IP based A10/A11 from the PDSN and the Internet or Service Network. On the A10/A11 interfaces, Sourceworks provides full visibility of control and user plane transactions including complex correlation across control and user plane flows to present a sessionised view of all data traffic at a per subscriber, per application and per node level.
Sourceworks forms part of The Now Factory's Active Intelligence Platform (ASI) that dynamically produces in-depth subscriber intelligence across a host of different IP devices, networks and services. In combination with the Smartworks platform, Sourceworks enables a host of different business and operational applications including The Now Factory's Mobile Moments suite, which empowers mobile operators with the ability to holistically manage the subscriber data journey right across their CDMA/EVDo networks.
With The Now Factory's ASI platform, operators can:
- Manage service and network performance across multiple correlations of IP services, applications and devices.
- Deliver an optimal Quality of Experience (QoE) to all mobile data subscribers.
- Align CDMA/EVDo network investments with revenue generation by identifying those network locations with the potential to generate the most revenue.
- Launch innovative multimedia IP services and marketing campaigns based on actual subscriber behavior that drive greater penetration and subscriber loyalty.
